Kilrush Library Book Club Event

Kilrush Public Library hosted a Book Club for 29 fifth class children from St. Senan’s Primary School, Kilrush on Thursday 25th April 2013. They borrowed 30 copies of Under the Hawthorn Tree, by Marita Conlon McKenna from the library and chose this book with the Famine theme to tie-in with the commemoration of the Famine in Kilrush. The children, some of whom were accompanied by their parents and grandparents, were divided into small groups and one adult lead each group, reading and discussing the book. A very enjoyable morning was had by all and it was wonderful to see the children and adults working together and sharing their views on this subject.
