Primary School Children from Scariff and Killaloe will celebrate Science Week in their local libraries on the 11th of November 2013. In a fast-moving show exploring the forces that are so important in allowing us to move, children will discover how propellers and rocket engines can push us forward and how friction and air resistance can hold us back. The hour long show takes place in Scariff at 10am and in Killaloe Library at 1.15pm
Children attending will be invited to travel to a world with little friction on an amazing hovercraft and they will witness the explosive power of rockets! And that’s not all; they will also enjoy finding out how to inflate marshmallows using the pressure of air!
This exciting science week show is brought to you courtesy of Learn Differently Ltd., Antrim and is facilitated by Terence Finnegan as part of Science Week Ireland which will see hundreds of events taking place nationwide from the 10th to the 17th of November 2013.
Speaking at the launch of Science Week 2013 well known science and maths educator Aoibhinn Ní Shúilleabháin said, “I am delighted to be involved with Science Week and encourage everyone to get involved to see how science influences their lives! With over 550 events taking place nationwide there is something for everybody to take part in. Science can be found in everything we do and Science Week provides people with the opportunity to explore what’s happening behind the scenes of everyday life, which we sometimes don’t think about!” Clare County Library’s science week event is free to children in primary schools in the Scariff and Killaloe area.
